Meet the designers
SASH Architecture is a collaboration of Adelaide based Architects and good friends, Sally Stansborough and Kristy McMillan.
Our boutique practice specialises in Residential Architecture and Interior Design that has been carefully tailored to reflect the individuals and the families that we have the pleasure of working with.
Our approach to Design and Architecture is client-focused, practical and bespoke. We believe that a building or space should reflect and enhance the lives of the people within it – being both functional in its layout and beautiful in the experiences it creates. This personalised approach is backed by extensive experience across all aspects of the design, documentation, approvals and construction process.
As professionals and busy parents ourselves, we understand the importance of having a home that has been tailored to an individual’s needs - and the positive impact that these well-considered spaces can have on a family and a home environment.
About Kristy
Kristy has worked as an Architect in Adelaide for more than 20 years, including as a Director in a Commercial Architecture Practice. With experience across a number of Architectural sectors, Kristy is particularly passionate about the relationship between Architecture and Interior Design. She has a keen eye for composition and the resolution of Architectural details, materials and finishes, which is backed by a wealth of experience in Architectural construction practices generally. Kristy has been recognised for her contribution to the profession through her appointment to a number of professional juries both nationally and internationally and through her recent award as National Workspace Designer of the Year.
About Sally
Sally spent the first part of her professional career working as a Lawyer in the areas of Planning and Development Law. She developed a keen interest in Residential Design and Development and went on to complete a Masters of Architecture in order to pursue this interest as an Architect as well. Prior to founding SASH Architecture, Sally was working with a high-end Residential Architecture and Construction Company. She is committed to finding architectural design solutions that enhance the lives of the people that live within them whilst also addressing the locality in which they are situated.
What we do
Architecture
At the Core of our professional services is Architecture and Design. We are passionate about all types of Residential Architecture, including new homes, single and multi storey additions, home renovations, multi residential developments and bespoke heritage extensions. Each project is inherently different - both due to the surrounding locality and the site itself, and with respect to the needs, personality and lifestyles of the people that will live there.
We welcome the process of working collaboratively with our clients to deliver customised and well-considered design solutions which will enhance and reflect the way that they live - from the initial master planning and creative design ideas through to the detailed construction drawings and supporting specifications.
Interior Design
We believe that Interior Design should complement and enhance the Architecture and the experience of being within a home or space. We are experienced in all aspects of interior design including space planning, kitchen design, joinery detailing, selection of fittings and fixtures and specification of materials and finishes.
We tailor our involvement in the Interior Design process to suit our clients, recognising that some clients prefer us to manage all of the interior selections and finishes to develop a cohesive architectural and interior design solution, whereas other clients just need our assistance to bring their own ideas and selections together into a functional and balanced aesthetic.
Project Planning
There are many steps to navigate in the design and development of an Architectural project – commencing with preliminary site inspections, design and master planning, understanding the planning framework and other statutory requirements, obtaining requisite approvals, undertaking interior design and selections, preparing detailed construction drawings and specifications, selecting a builder, and performing architectural inspections and progress reviews during construction.
We have a wealth of experience across each of these stages and we work alongside our clients to guide them through the process – tailoring our involvement to suit their specific needs, experience, budget and expectations so that we can best help each client to realise their ideas and aspirations for their home.
